Panasonic India, the Indian arm of the Japanese consumer electronics and appliances giant Panasonic Corporation, is entering small towns and cities across India to increase its sales revenues to over Rs 10,000 crore in the financial year 2012-13.
It has also allocated Rs 400 crore to spend on various TV, print, online cinema, and outdoor advertising as well as road shows and other promotional activities across India.
“We want to aggressively tap our growing business in small towns and cities across India,” Daizo Ito, president, Panasonic India, told Financial Chronicle.
“We are targeting at least a total of 200 exclusive brand stores by March-end, 2012,” Ito said. The firm will also increase its 6,000 multi-brand outlets to 9,000 across India by the end of March, 2012, Ito said.
The firm opened its 130th exclusive brand store, its fourth in Pune, on Thursday. The company said its revenues in India had been doubling over the last few years due to robust sales growth. “We are targeting to achieve over Rs 10,000 crore sales revenues in the financial year 2013,” Ito said. The firm aims to cross Rs 5,500 crore sales revenue in financial year 2011.
“The exclusive brand store size will vary from place to place and location to location from 800 sq ft to 3,500 sq ft with an investment ranging from Rs 22 lakh to Rs 40 lakh for each store,” Manish Sharma, director marketing, Panasonic India, said. He said 50-55 per cent of the total sales for the major consumer durables came during the festival season. “Our plan is also to export these products to Africa, the Middle East and later to European market,” Ito said.
